Arrival and Library

The children choose a book to take home and read with their families until next class.

 

Free Play (30 min)
The children choose from a wide variety of indoor and outdoor play and activities designed to encourage development of fine and gross motor skills, and designed to encourage learning through play.

Circle Time (15 min)

The children participate in attendance, calendar and days of the week practice, singing with movement and music, and a story that corresponds with the current class theme or learning concept. 

Snack Time (15 min) 
After hands are washed, the children sit in groups with their big buddies and socialize with each other during snack time.

 

Mini Lesson (10 min)

Big buddies teach a brief lesson to the children through the use of an anchor chart (a visual learning tool, typically a large poster, used to support and reinforce learning)

Craft (15 min)

The children work on a craft activity designed by their big buddies that focuses on a learning concept such as ABC's, numbers, colours, shapes, healthy foods, 5 senses, and many others.

Outdoor Play (30 min)
The children play outside in our large grassy area with a large selection of outdoor toys. Some items the children enjoy playing with are bubbles, balls, ride on toys, playhouse, sidewalk chalk, and many more. We may also work in our school garden during this time. 

​Clean Up (5 min)
Everyone works together to clean up before being picked up.
